Simply Canvas Studio of the Month

It’s September? Already?! Wow.

This really should have been posted in August, but, hey, that’s okay.:)It’s still exciting!! Some of you have already seen this (and sent me super sweet emails- thank you!)  but, for the rest of you who don’t recieve the Simply Canvas newsletter, I thought I’d share my excitiment with you here.

I was selected as Simply Canvas and Simply Color Lab’s Studio of the Month! To say this is a HUGE honor is by no means exaggerating. Simply Canvas is the biggest canvas company in the US and used by THOUSANDS of photographers. In fact, many of the photographers who I look up to use them as their lab. I was thrilled (and a tad bit shocked!) when I received the call. And even more thrilled when I recieved my reward in the mail!

It is now proudly displayed in my office!:)

And, if I’m not mistaken (correct me if I am.) I’m the first pet photographer to be featured. I hope I’m just the first of many! This is even more exciting to me as many photographers don’t recognize pet photography as a big part of the industry! Believe me, it is! People love their cats and dogs just as much as others love their human kids.

Thank you so much Simply Canvas and all my wonderful clients! The Spring and Summer went so well and I am so excited about this Fall and Winter- can’t wait to see what else the year will bring!:)

Sarge, Melee, and Paisley

Can anyone say “puppy”?!

I love puppies.:)And Sarge was such an absolute doll of a puppy. Armed with crazy adorable wrinkles and ridiculously sweet eyes, this little guy was fabulous in front of the camera.

In my preshoot email, I request that all my clients take their doggie for a quick walk before our shoot. This helps to get all that super crazy energy and allows them to calm down a little bit sooner… Of course, most still have plenty energy left!;)I’m sure Sarge’s mom laughed when she read the email I sent. Sarge is possibly the most laid back dog I have ever met. And very well behaved too! Yes, my shoes did go missing for a bit… But, hey- it was probably one of the cats… Right?;)Speaking of cats, Sarge also shares his home with two fab felines! I had a wonderful time with them as well. They weren’t quite as willing in front of the camera as their brother, so this blog post will focus mainly on Sargie. But, I managed to get some great shots of them too!

Paisley is the sweet black and white Maine Coon and Melee is the handsome tabby.

Trying to figure out what breed this little cutie is? He’s a Boxer Mastiff mix.:)

LOVE the wrinkles!
Thanks for the fun shoot Sarge, Melee, Paisley and Whitney!

Abby, little miss big eyes

First off, shhhhh if you know this sweet little girl! Her wonderful aunt booked her a session as a surprise for her mom’s birthday in December. So don’t tell her if you know her!;)

I had such a wonderful time with Abby’s aunt and cousin! And of course, Abby herself. The silly girl had us laughing and awwing at her the whole time. Abby can be quite the silly little thing! She was VERY food motivated…  She probably gained a whole pound (which, is a lot when you only weigh 6!) after all the treats we fed her. I couldn’t help it though- I had never met an Italian Greyhound in person before, and wow, are they adorable! I could not get over Abby’s gorgeous big eyes. She reminds me so much of a little baby dear or a cute little mouse.

Doesn’t she make you go “awwwwwwww!!”?:)

Thanks for the great shoot! Hope you love the photos!

A Boy and His Dog

Some shoots, I plan very carefully, knowing exactly where I’ll shoot, exactly what I want to capture, etc. While others, just happen. This was one of those shoots. It’s always a surprise to see where I’ll be shooting when I go to a client’s home. This was an extremely pleasant one! Matt and Lucy’s yard was perfect and gorgeous. The other surprise was Matt. If you follow me here, you know that I love capturing people and pets together- I figured I’d get some shots of Matt and Lucy, but planned on the shoot being mostly Lucy herself. Matt was awesome in front of the camera though! Some of these shots were HIS idea! The shoot quickly evolved to become all about the two of them together.

Their story couldn’t be sweeter either. Matt rescued Lucy from the shelter. Not only did he pick her out, but, her name too. Lucy is from the Chronicles of Narnia. I asked him if those were his favorite books. He said favorite movies… Because normally, the books are waaayyyy better, but, not in this case. I have to agree with Matt!:)When I went to photograph her, Lucy had only been with her new family for three weeks but, you would have thought that she’d been with them since birth. She ADORES Matt and he adores her. They’re the sweetest pair and I’m so glad I was able to capture that!

Get em’ Lucy!

This is one of the shots that Matt came up with… Doesn’t she look cute with her ears up?:)

I also spent a lot of the session trying to figure out what Lucy was mixed with… The vet’s guess is Shepherd and Lhasa Apso. She reminds me of a Labradoodle! And I think there’s definitely some Wheaten Terrier in there somewhere. Any guesses?:)

Thanks Lucy and Matt for such a great shoot!:)
